As in all breeds, there are a myriad of health problems in Border Collies. Sound breeding practices can and should minimize the risk of health issues cropping up, but ultimately, Mother Nature has the final say. Genetics are very fickle, and breeders can only predict and plan so much until genetic markers are available for polygenic disorders. Border Collies have a relatively small gene pool, so problems exist in ALL lines. Anyone who tells you that they have "clean lines" simply has not looked hard enough at their bloodlines.
